Celebrity support for endangered Hedgehogs
BRITAIN’S threatened hedgehogs, at risk from traffic, garden implements like strimmers, bonfires and slug pellets, have gained five celebrity supporters.
Ann Widdecombe, the outspoken Conservative MP, TV presenter Ben Fogle, Chris Beardshaw, John Challis and Twiggy Lawson have all agreed to become patrons of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society.
Says Anne Widdecombe: “These charming little creatures which give so much pleasure to so many people are often under unrecognised threat. The collections at both my parents’ funerals and indeed at my 60th birthday party were for the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and I am very honoured to have been asked to become a patron.”
Fay Vass, chief executive of the society said “We are really pleased to welcome our five patrons. I know they all have a genuine interest in hedgehogs and our work and I look forward to working together with them to further the aims of the society in the future.”
