An addition bus service is to be put in place during upcoming engineering works on the Settle-Carlisle railway line.
The Ingleborough Pony bus service will be extended to run from Skipton each Sunday, providing additional travel opportunities whilst the line is closed.
Between 10th and 27th July the railway line will be closed between Skipton and Langwathby, with rail replacement buses being provided for passengers.
The Ingleborough Pony bus service usually connects with trains at Ribblehead Station every Sunday, providing links around Ingleborough to Chapel-le-Dale, White Scar Caves, Ingleton and Clapham, and eastwards to Hawes and Swaledale. During the closure the bus will extend to collect passengers from Skipton, Gargrave and Settle.
On Sundays 12th, 19th and 26th July the Ingleborough Pony bus will depart from outside Skipton Railway Station at 09:50, running via Gargrave Square (at 10:00) and Settle Market Place (at 10:20) to Ribblehead (for connecting bus to Ingleton), Hawes, Muker, Reeth and Leyburn. The return bus will leave Leyburn Market Place at 15:55, Reeth at 16:25, Hawes at 17:30, Ribblehead at 17:48 and Settle at 18:12, arriving back in Skipton at around 18:45.
The Ingleborough Pony runs as a normal bus service, so there's no need to book in advance, and concessionary passes are valid for free travel.
Further details of the service are available from the tourist information centres in Skipton and Settle, or online at www.dalesbus.org
The bus will also provide access to the Ribblehead Viaduct Walk being held on 26th July.
