Detectives are investigating the discovery of a body in the Leeds-Liverpool Canal at Skipton.
A dog walker made the grim find of what appears to be a middle-aged man, at around twenty to nine this morning (Monday 6th March).
An eye witness who was on the scene just after the discovery said the body appears to be that of a man in his mid-forties.
The witness speculated that the man may have slipped on the ice and fallen into the Canal, saying the towpath is "very icy".
Detectives are currently on the scene, at the top of Sawley Street in Skipton. So far, there's no official word on how the man died.
