Two local businesswomen will get the chance to network with their continental counterparts this week as they travel to France to attend a conference held as part of International Womens Day.
Anne Watson of Executive Focus in Harrogate and Jackie Whiteley of Strulch Limited, based in Burley in Wharfedale, will be among a group of fifteen women from the Yorkshire region travelling with the UK Trade and Investment delegation to attend the conference in Paris on Wednesday (8th March).
The group will meet French businesswomen from similar industries to their own at a workshop, before attending the conference, organised by the Franco-British Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which will have the theme of 'Equality & Diversity - Myth or Reality'.
Lady Penny Holmes, wife of the British Ambassador to France will host the group whose aim is to develop better trade links, exchange ideas and experiences and more generally to forge closer relationships with the Yorkshire and Humber Region.
UKTI's Lorraine Ellison, who has organised the trip, says: "We hope as a result of this visit that business will be achieved and that the women on both sides of the Channel will learn more about each other; as well as exploring the barriers that may hinder them from fulfilling their international potential.
"With continued support from UKTI it is hoped to encourage further links for women to develop their business in France and vice versa. A return visit to Yorkshire is expected this autumn."
