The Wars of the Roses are to be replaced by the Art of the Roses when a new cycleway opens which will stretch from the Lancashire seaside at Morecambe across Yorkshire.

The second phase of the project – to be called the Way of the Roses – has already been pioneered by artist Matt Baker when he cycled from Morecambe to Settle in the Yorkshire Dales taking notes and talking to local people to gather material for future art projects.

The Way of the Roses art project is part funded by the Yorkshire Dales LEADER programme, which aims to improve life in rural areas of the Yorkshire Dales by providing funding for activities which enhance local heritage and cultural features.
