A PROJECT to give farmers in North Yorkshire the tools they need to create an online business has been launched by Regional Development Agency Yorkshire Forward.
Farmers from rural areas of the region will get the opportunity to learn how to use the internet to generate extra income for their business.

Support for online farm businesses
The project will teach rural farmers and farming families how to turn their hobbies, interests and passions into a thriving business idea.
A series of workshops will be held across the region in November. The workshops will include presentations showing examples of successful farming businesses that have used the internet to their own advantage.
Farmers who enroll on the workshops will receive business support, mentoring and advice for 12 months on every aspect of launching an online business - from identifying gaps in the market to strategies on how to grow the business. They will also get access to IT equipment including a computer, digital camera, software, printer, and recording equipment.
Andy Tordoff, head of rural renaissance and tourism, said: "This is a unique opportunity for farming communities in North Yorkshire to generate extra revenue and profit by using the internet to create an online business.
"This project will allow the farmers to generate profit from their hobbies, pastimes and other non-farming interests - so the potential is tremendous."
Participants are required to pay a joining fee of £99 and £10 a week after that.
