Go back in time in Leyburn

[Monday 5 July 2010]

Visitors to Leyburn Tourist Information Centre will be stepping back in time this month.

For the centre is lending its support to a special weekend depicting the 1940s.

The annual 40s weekend - headed ‘Operation Dalesman 2010’ – on July 17 and 18 will be packed full of the sights, sounds and humour of the period.

The event will revolve around Leyburn with all events and activities taking place around the market place. There will be lots of period memorabilia, music and dancing, vehicle displays, vintage buses, restored trains, Mess Dinner and a Fly Past.

And it will be filmed by ITV for its new series ‘The Dales’ which is looking at life in the Yorkshire Dales.

Dance tickets as well as information on camping are available from the centre.
