ONE OF THE countryside's most formidable campaigning groups, the Country Land and Business Association (CLA), is celebrating the centenary of its formation this year and among the events to mark the milestone is a nationwide photography competition.
The Yorkshire Dales provide some magnificent opportunities for photography and the competition is open to anyone who wishes to capture on film work done in the countryside to benefit the environment for the whole nation to enjoy. There is a top prize of £500, a chance to win monthly food hampers delivered to your door, and a £100 prize for under-18 entrants.
The CLA has a special significance in Yorkshire, for it came into being at the famous Royal Station Hotel in York with a merger between the Yorkshire Land and Property Defence Association and the Central Land Association.
