GREEN-FINGERED youngsters from one West Craven school recently got their trowels out and helped add a splash of colour to perk up their local shopping precinct.
Colne kids spruce up precinct
The planters outside Colne's shopping precinct are usually looked after by Pendle Council; however, on this occasion the kids from West Street School took over and have helped put their stamp on the town, helping it to bloom.
The Colne in Bloom Committee has worked tirelessly over the years to brighten up the town centre; to make it a nicer, more attractive place to live, and with the help of local people and school children alike, this is now becoming a reality.
Dorothy Lord, Chair of the Colne in Bloom Committee, said: "The kids from the schools have done a fantastic job in helping us to spruce up the place and keep Colne blooming all year round.
"It is particularly exciting seeing all the work that has been done and the improvements it has made knowing that the 'In Bloom' judges will be very shortly visiting us here in Colne."
