THE budding thespians of a Yorkshire Dales based theatre group are appealing for help in creating the set of their latest production - and their call goes out to all local hairdressers.
Grassington Players will be treading the boards later this month in their production of the Robert Harling play, Steel Magnolias.

Steel Magnolias: the latest production
from Grassington Players
Set in a hairdressing salon in America during the 1980's, the Players are making their set as authentic as possible and have been fortunate in obtaining help from Merritt & Fryers. The company has donated two sinks for the elaborate set building - including running water.
Obtaining a set of authentic looking chairs is proving more of a problem however, and that's where the player's plea to local hairdressers comes in. Stage Manager, Mary Wilkinson explains:
"We're hoping that some local hairdresser or beauty salon may have had a refurbishment and kept some of their old chairs in a loft or store room perhaps.
"Ideally we need six chairs, four matching, and two matching, but we'd be interested to her from anyone who has any they think may be suitable."
Hooded driers are also sought for the play - described as a hilarious and touching tale revealing the strength and care underlying the humorous banter of the characters who comprise the staff and customers of Truvy's salon.
Steel Magnolias will be performed from 26th to 28th October in The Octagon Theatre at Grassington Town Hall.
Anyone with chairs or driers to offer is asked to call Mary on 01756 752740.
Ticket enquiries should go to Helen Midgley on 01756 752579.
