Motorists visiting Hambleton’s market towns are getting an early xmas present as parking charges are lifted for three weeks.
The District Council is waiving fees from December 7 to 24 on all its car parks in Northallerton, Bedale, Stokesley and Thirsk.
Drivers will not need to pay but they must observe the existing short and long stay times to enable the turnover of available spaces to continue.
“We hope this initiative will prove attractive to motorists during the run up to Christmas,” said Council Leader, Councillor Arthur Barker. This is consistent with our overall approach to parking charges by keeping them less than in other market towns. Hambleton’s Christmas concessions are more generous than in many neighbouring towns.”
“Since we introduced charges in October this year motorists have readily embraced the scheme – our car parks have continued to be busy every day and we have had few problems with displacement parking in the residential areas.”
Charges will be removed from all off street short and long stay car parks operated by the district council from 8am on Monday December 7 until 6pm on Thursday December 24.
