THREE theatre companies are visiting Northallerton this autumn and are set to provide entertainment for people of all ages without the need for long car journeys to the larger neighbouring towns that can so often be necessary when living in the Yorkshire Dales.
"By bringing theatre into Northallerton we can save those journeys to Darlington and York - journeys which so often put people off going to see shows," said Arts Development Officer, Kate Staines.
"This is a great chance for local people to enjoy first class theatre right on their doorsteps."

First up is 'Normal Productions' which arrive at the Hambleton Forum on October 5 with a new play, 'Vacant Possession', a comedy set in Yorkshire.
Written by Ray Brown the play is set in Leeds in the mid 50s and tells the story of a young man who wants to get out from under his parents feet so buys a house from a lonely old man. But he becomes embroiled in the old mans life - and his bizarre suicide attempts!
The play - which stars Geoffrey Wilkinson and Jamie Smelt as well as the old man's inflatable friend, Maggie - starts at 7.30pm.
Two weeks later and it is the return of the Magic Carpet Theatre Company with 'Circus Magic' aimed at five to seven year olds and their parents.
Founded in 1982 in Hull the company has toured all over the UK and specialises in traditional Variety Theatre, circus skills and puppetry.
'Magic Circus' tells the story of a ringmaster who finds himself without his planned show stars - acrobats, elephants and tightrope walkers. So will the show go on and who will perform?
You can catch the performance on October 25 at 1.30pm.
November sees the 'Motus O Dance' company present 'Variations in Love' with performances from the North Yorkshire County Youth Dance Company. The November 19 date kicks off at 7.30pm.
Tickets for all the shows are priced £5.50 (£4.50 concessions) or £18 for a family of four and are available from Hambleton Leisure Centre in Northallerton on 01609 777070 or Thirsk Tourist Information centre on 01845 522755.
