Some of the most successful small scale community projects lunched in the Yorkshire Dales in recent years is to be celebrated with a public open day later this month.
They include a boost for the Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, the Settle Hydro Scheme which aims to produce “green” electricity from the River Ribble, and the work of Gargrave-based Chrysalis Arts, which acts as a mentor to people wishing to make a living from the arts.
All these projects, and many more, were helped by the LEADER fund, a Yorkshire Forward initiative coordinated by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust.
The celebration open day will be held from 1.00pm to 4.30 pm, at North Stainley Village Hall, North Stainley, which has itself received LEADER funding as part of community efforts which have raised over £1million for its community hub.
Dales folk who would like to raise funds for community projects in their area are invited to attend. For more information please contact the Dales LEADER Co-coordinator Rima Berry on 015242 51002 or email rima.berry@ydmt.org
