FREAK thunderstorms which travelled over North Yorkshire yesterday afternoon and evening caused flash flooding on the North York Moors - but the Yorkshire Dales areas further west escaped the worst of the damage. Raging floods roared through Helmsley and RAF helicopters were called out to rescue eight people.
