Starting next weekend the Grassington Players will be performing their annual Dickensian show. Although the Grassington Dickensian festival doesn’t start until the 3rd December the Players will be giving a special extra show for the locals next Saturday the 26th.
This years show, Dr Watt and the Disappearing Lead, features all the usual fun and frolics with a definite Victorian theme. Starting somewhere not unlike Grassington it moves around the country ending up at a well known Scottish castle. It has been rumoured that the old Queen herself will put in an appearance, while any suggestion that the main character resembles a famous time traveller is entirely true.
As the plot unravels the show has the usual mixture of songs, readings and the ever-popular melodrama with plenty of opportunity for audience participation interspersed. Apart from the 26th the shows are being performed on the 3rd and 10th December at the Town Hall starting at 8.00 pm. Tickets are priced at £6.00, £3.00 for children, and people will be able to bring their own refreshments (not forgetting glasses and an opener) which will hopefully ensure that everybody is in good voice to make the show it’s usual success.
