Enduring favourite 'Dad's Army' forms the backbone of Grassington Players contribution to the VE Day celebrations.
The show, to be performed in the Town Hall at Grassington on 13th, 14th & 16th July, features first half entertainment 'In the Shelter' with sketches and songs of the period presented against the backdrop of an air raid, followed by an episode of the legendary TV comedy in the second half.
The Players promise tears and laughter as befits the spirit of World War 2, and the show is predicted to be as storming a success as their production of 'Allo, 'Allo' staged only a few seasons ago, which played to full houses and standing ovations.
Director Mark Bamforth explains "We know what our audiences love most, and that is to laugh, to sing-along and in many cases to reminisce; this production should deliver on all counts."
The audience are invited to bring their own drink along to enjoy during the performance and rations will be served in the interval. Rumour has it that may include spam sandwiches - you have been warned!
Tickets are available from Helen Midgley in Grassington (these can be reserved by telephone on 01756 752579) and are priced at £6 including the war-time refreshments. Please note there is no Friday performance.
