Quick calls to national park

Wednesday 08 June 2005

THE Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority has installed a state of the art telephone system to provide faster service to members of the public seeking advice or information.

The park has two HQ bases, one in Grassington, near Skipton, and the second at Bainbridge, near Hawes, and in the past, callers have sometimes needed to juggle between both to get the required service.

The new number will now serve both buildings and all departments. It is: 0870 1 666333.

The authority's head of finance and resources, Richard Burnett, says: "The new system means our receptionists can handle calls more efficiently and, for the first time, we will be able to transfer people to any YDNPA sites from one location, which will save callers having to re-dial as they had to before.

"Overall, we will be able to offer a seamless service that will include the ability to extend the switchboard cover out of hours and on bank holidays."
