Santa Specials On The Wensleydale Railway

Monday 07 November 2005

When Santa visits the Wensleydale Railway he does it in style! Not just presents for all the children but the adults are looked after too, with mulled wine and mince pies!

Santa visits Leeming Bar station (only half a mile from the A1, near Bedale) each Christmas-time. Excited children and their families gather on the platform for the journey on 'Santa's magical train'.

All seats can be pre-booked for Santa Specials so that he knows which toys to bring with him.

At the station, Santa's helpers load the colourfully-wrapped parcels onto the train. The guard waves his green flag and blows his whistle for the train to depart and then, spot on time, Santa's train sets off on its journey. The name and age of every child is carefully checked so they get their own special present.

When the train returns to the station, parents can relax over coffee or hot chocolate in the buffet coach, or buy last minute Christmas gifts in the restored shop coach. And then, with a Thomas ticket, there is also free same-day travel on other services on the Wensleydale Railway - a Bargain! All Santa trains depart from Leeming Bar or Bedale stations on the following dates: Nov 26 & 27; Dec 3 & 4, 10 & 11, 17-23 and Dec 24 (am only). To book (£9 each for adults and children) phone 01677 425805. see also www.wensleydalerailway.com
