The new flat season at Ripon, Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse, begins on Thursday 14th April with an afternoon of racing excitement featuring the Ripon Silver Bowl Conditions Stakes.
During the winter months extensive work has been undertaken on the course to re-align the bend coming into the home straight. The £200 000 project means the bend has also been re-cambered to improve safety for the horses. It is likely that the new bend will mean horses and jockeys will have increased confidence in coming round into the final straight leading to even faster and more exciting racing action across the finish.
Visitors to the course will also find that Members facilities have been improved too for 2005, with the Paddock Room completely refurbished.
It’s not only changes at the course however that are putting Ripon at the forefront of racing in Yorkshire this year, their new website, found at www.ripon-races.co.uk now offers the facility for on-line booking, so you can buy your tickets for fixtures in advance and beat the queues at the gates on race days. Built by Daelnet/QDK Ltd. the site provides secure on-line transactions through HSBC bank.
The 2005 calendar of fifteen fixtures looks to be a promising season with the course continuing to attract the country’s top trainers, jockeys and horses. Annual membership is still available for the new season, which at £125 equates to less than half price admission to all Ripon’s meetings, plus free visits to 14 other leading racecourses across the country.
