COUNTRYSIDE organisations throughout the country are organising special hikes to raise funds for Red Nose Day - and individuals are being invited to organise their own walks so that they can join in the fun.
The Big Walk on Sunday, March 13, is being coordinated by the Countryside Agency as part of National Outdoor Day (NOW) from March 12 to March 20, a campaign to persuade more people to get out and about in the countryside.
The Red Nose Day Walks throughout the country are being led by organisations like the Ramblers' Association, boy scout and girl guides troops, and the organisers are particularly keen to get schools involved.
In fact, schools, voluntary organisations and even individuals are invited to plan their own walks and invite anyone else along who might be interested. You can get more information, or log details of your own hike, on www.nationaloutdoorweek.org.uk
