Trawden Forest and Borders Bridleway Association is a new organisation, and our main aims are to open and maintain existing bridleways in the Trawden, Laneshaw Bridge, Cowling and surrounding areas.
Our first public meeting, held on the 25th February, at the Alma Inn, Emmott Lane, Laneshaw Bridge, was a massive success, with about 50 people attending. John Miller, of Aireworth Veterinary Centre, gave a talk, and topics he discussed included horse passports, first aid, and ragwort. Ways of raising funds to undertake the legal work for bridleways was also discussed.
Meetings will be held regularly, on the last Wednesday in each month, with this months being on 30th June at 7:30pm at The Alma Inn, Laneshaw Bridge. Rebecca Mateo, a horse masseuse, will be giving the talk, which should be interesting. Entrance is £1 for members and £1.50 for non-members.
The Association is holding a Pleasure Ride from Bolton Abbey on Sunday June 27th 2004, at 11am. The ride is all off road, around this beautiful area. Entries are £10 members, £15 non-members. For an entry form, phone Amanda on 01535 630917.
The Bridleway Association are urging people who know about the history of Laneshaw Bridge, Trawden, Cowling, Lothersdale and West Craven, and especially of local Packhorse Tracks and Old Bridleways, and may be able to help us to contact Paul on 07791 943563.
