INTERESTED in rural affairs and conservation? Then you are invited to become a member of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) as a Government appointee.
The authority is made up of members drawn from local authorities within the park and people appointed by Environment Secretary Margaret Beckett to represent the national interest - ie, the views of people who visit or do business in the park without living there. They do not have to live locally.
A new appointee is being sought from candidates who "understand the concept and practice of sustainable development and who come from a broad range of backgrounds representative of the social and cultural mix in the country at large."
The post is unpaid but travel expenses are met.
An application form and further details can be obtained by writing to Carol Foster, The Countryside Agency, John Dower House, Crescent Place, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL50 3RA.
