FARMERS and rural businesses seeking start-up funding for new projects are being urged of attend Rural Enterprise Scheme workshops - and win an 85% chance of getting the cash help they require.
The RES workshops were created after the foot and mouth crisis to help country businesses diversify - and have proved so successful that they will be continued again this year.
According to a study made by the Country Landowners and Business Association (CLA), people who have attended the workshops stand an 85% chance of getting cash backing, as opposed to 65% who "go it alone" in making applications.
"It's a competitive situation and this is now strong evidence that these workshops really do work," said the CLA's Yorkshire director, Dorothy Fairburn.
"If you are thinking of developing new business opportunities, or are involved in schemes of social or environmental benefit, the workshops are invaluable. Feedback from our members is very good."
Bookings are now being accepted and for further information the Rural Development Service can be contacted on 01609 767400 (North Yorkshire); 0113 230 3987 (West Yorkshire); 01653 696082 (East Yorkshire); 01132 303931 (South Yorkshire).
