Ripon Racecourse has been named 'Best Small Racecourse in the North' by the Racegoers Club, a fans' organisation administered by the Racecourse Association.
The prestigious award was given to Ripon for the course's warm welcome, excellent facilities and high quality level of racing at each of Ripon's race meetings.
The Racegoers Club was founded more than 35 years ago to help racing fans get the most out of their passion. The Club also acts as the 'punters' representative at committee level at the British Horseracing Board.
"To be recognised by the Racegoers Club is a tremendous honour for Ripon Racecourse," said Clerk of the Course James Hutchinson.
"The organisation is the voice of the fans, and the award speaks volumes about the investment the racecourse executive has put into the facilities, activities and events for racegoers here at Ripon."
Over the winter months, the course management will be working on a number of projects designed to further improve the facilities at the racecourse before the new 2004 season begins in April.
