A special bus service will be running again this year from West Yorkshire to the Grassington Dickensian Festival.
The festival is held throughout the village from 11am to 5pm and is an old fashioned market with entertainment all day, bands, choirs, buskers, and lots more. Late afternoon there is a torchlight nativity procession. Many of the stalls support local charities. This popular event will be held this year on Saturdays 6th, 13th and 20th December.
The double decker service 800 bus will leave Wakefield Bus Station each Saturday at 9.15am; Leeds City Bus Station at 9.50 and Ilkley Railway Station at 10.35 and 12.55; Return buses from Grassington leave at 2.35 to Ilkley, and at 5.00 to Ilkley, Leeds and Wakefield.
The service has been organised by the Yorkshire Dales Public Transport Users Group, in conjunction with Arriva Yorkshire and the festival organisers.
This service provides the opportunity to either visit the festival or go walking, with no parking problems and a convivial journey. Dalesbus Ramblers have organised a programme of guided walks to coincide with the festival. The walks are between 3 and 4 miles in length. You can take your walking gear and join them for the start of the walk at 1.30pm outside Grassington Town Hall each Saturday of the festival.
Full details of the buses are available in the Metro Winter Dalesbus timetable and in a special promotional leaflet available locally. Alternatively visit www.dalesbus.org or ring Traveline on 0870 608 2 608.
