THE two-year battle over a McDonalds ice-cream carton which kills hedgehogs continues - and animal lovers are being urged to add their weight to the campaign.
The British Hedgehog Protection Society began to receive reports two years ago of animals being found dead with their heads trapped in discarded McFlurry ice-cream cartons.
They protested to McDonalds but, says the society, the fast food chain is only now looking at two possible alternative designs, one of which is undergoing tests.
"Although they offer fast food, it seems the wheels of the design and marketing teams grind very slowly," says the BHPS, which is demanding quicker action as the summer ice-cream season approaches.
The society is urging members of the public to phone the MacDonald's executive dealing with the matter to add their names to the protest: Amanda Pierce on 08705 244 622.
