Wanted: the true country custodians
Tuesday 23 April

THE search is on for long-serving gamekeepers and river bailiffs - so that their work as custodians of the countryside can be officially recognised.

The Country Landowners' and Business Association is seeking nominations for these archetypal country folk so that they can be presented with awards recognising their unique contributions to country life.

The presentations will be made at the CLA Game Fair, to be held at Broadlands, Romsey in Hampshire from Friday 26th July to Sunday 28th July 2002.

CLA's NW Regional Director, Douglas Chalmers, comments: "By their uncanny ability to balance the adoption of new techniques and practices while preserving and protecting the best of established, tried and tested skills, gamekeepers and water bailiffs are the true custodians of the countryside."
  • Further information and nomination forms for The CLA Game Fair Long Service Awards can be obtained from the CLA NW officer on 01524 782209
