Beech and bluebell blues
Wed 21 March

BAD news for Britain's beech trees and our bluebell woods. The Woodland Trust has issued a report on the possible future effects of global warming and says that some of our finest native trees, particularly the beeches, are under threat and that bluebell woods could disappear, particularly in the south of England.

This could be the result of droughts caused by warmer, drier springs - so if this year's weather is anything to go by, we can live in hope!
