FOLLOWING a tied vote for the post of deputy chairman, members of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority have agreed that two members share the post until the next election at the annual meeting in July 2002.

Jerry Pearlman will hold the post until the middle of March when John Blackie will take over until the annual meeting.

Both Mr Pearlman and Mr Blackie will work alongside the Authority's chairman Steve Macaré.

Commenting on the arrangement, Steve Macaré said: "We have reached a sensible compromise that will bring the expertise of two very able men to the work of the Authority."
