Exhibition of Contemporary Art

Six artists – one aim: To create interesting, inspiring and intriguing pieces of contemporary art.

A group of both established and emerging artists invite you to view their most recent work in the welcoming surroundings of Ashton Cottage, home of felt maker and textile artist Elizabeth Spencer. Here, at the top of Grassington Main Street, will be the abstract and semi-representational acrylic paintings by Jacquie Denby, which relate to the Yorkshire dales and her life within it. Alongside these will be works by Dave Oldridge, who explores the hidden areas of ourselves using digitally manipulated media.

The beautifully intricate mixed-metal pieces created by jeweller Isabel Tanner give a complementary contrast to the soft, tactile feltwork of Elizabeth Spencer.

Sculptors, Geoff Rushton and Linda Walker both share a passion for the abstract and the unusual. Geoff’s weird and wonderful creations intricately and skilfully intrigue the eye, whilst the strong solid forms created by Linda Walker intend to engage the viewer and invite a deeper consideration to the shapes and forms before them.

The exhibition will open Friday 28th October 7-9pm and run between 11am and 5pm Saturday and Sunday 29th and 30th October 2011. It is located at Ashton Cottage, 7 Moor Lane, Grassington, BD23 5BD (opposite The Octagon and the kids' playarea). No disabled access. Free parking available at the Town Hall. All are welcome.
